My list of to do's

I talked to Dave on the cellphone tonight, and it was so good to hear his voice once again, and to catch up what has been happening in his life.

If I don't go out to the ranch with Dad tomorrow, I plan on really reorganizing the basement, where I live, the pick up, and the tack room. I must admit that I have been slacking. I think I'll go to Alco, and put a storage shelf on layaway, so that I can use it in the tack room to store all of my grooming supplies, supplements, and other odd and ends in it. It will really help me to keep my tack room organized. I won't be able to clean the tack room up right away, hopefully next week, I'll get that accomplished.

I need shelves for the basement, but that'll be another month or so before I can afford that, so I'll be reorganizing my belongings downstairs. But what I want to do is:

  1. Put belongings away
  2. Wash bedding
  3. Dust
  4. Vacuum
  5. Clean bathroom
  6. Take out trash

Then I also want to clean out the pickup and car.

  1. Clean trash out of pickup and car
  2. Vacuum pickup and car
  3. Dust pickup and car
  4. Remove belongings

I also need to take photos of the weanlings for the Strategy challenge, and to register them. A few of them are doing quite well on the Strategy, and other's aren't doing as well as I'd like them to do. I need to worm the large bunch.

Black Friday

I had to be to work at 6am this morning to frost donuts. Usually on my drive to work, I don't meet allot of people, it's dead. But today I noticed several cars parked in front of the farm store, and other cars driving around.

Today is truck day, and I literally froze my butt off while frosting donuts, they had the back door, all the way open, and it's right in line with the bakery. It's been a quiet and busy day, we're just filling in all the empty holes, and allot of baking. I found one last box of pumpkin pies, and we still have allot of pecan, apple and blueberry pies. I had some intoxicated guy call in at 7am wanting 2 pumpkin pies for today at 2 pm. I wonder if he's going to remember that he called and ordered the pies, once he sobers up.

I live in a small town, there's about 2500 people, and allot of area rancher's, including my family. My family has 250 cows, and 15 head of horses.

But the town already has the christmas decorations on the lamp posts, and the garland on the high wires on main street. Instead of black friday, we have a holiday preview, where the local merchants, open early and have specials, and contest and goodies all day long. The theater even has a free movie for the kids. We don't have big malls, or Walmarts here. Just little stores, and of course Alco.

I can't believe the craziness of the big cities, where people trample other people just to get a good deal on items. It's a sad world we live in, where people care more about material items, than a life. It leaves me speechless.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving!

I had a very blessed thanksgiving, spent with my family and very good food.

I awoke to banging of pots and pans, Mother had the turkey already in the oven, and was starting on the cheesy potatoes, stuffing, and green bean casserole before we headed off to church. . First stopped was Granny’s house, and I was sitting in the backseat, and I had seen a little nose, and two beady eyes stick out, and then darted under the back seat. I love mice, and they are so cute. We have had a mice problem with mice in the car before, but I thought that I had it taken care of. Part of pastor’s family was home, two of his daughter’s, and his son and family. I was shocked just how grown ups his daughter’s are, 3 of them are in college and the military.

After arriving home from church, we hurried to remove the turkey from the oven, and place the cheesy potatoes, stuffing, yams, and green bean casserole into the oven. I love the holidays, where we actually dig out the table clothes, good china, and wine glasses.

My Aunt Karen, Uncle Bill, arrived shortly later, and we ate until are stomach were so full, the food was so good. But I noticed that we forgot the cranberry relish, this year. I was shocked. Pumpkin pie is my favorite. And the homemade bread turned out so nice. I cheated, I made the dough in the bread machine and then put it in the bread pan, let it raise, and then baked it in the oven. So yummy with butter and homemade chokecherry jelly on it.

We sat around and talked, drank wine, until we were hungry for pie. Louie didn’t show up this year, which was sort of shocking, but he was out at the ranch working.

This year I have allot to be actually thankful about, I know it’s been a stressful last couple of months, but I truly feel thankful. I’m in the process of going bankrupt, that I’m not thankful about, but it not my fault and I have no control over it, but once this bankruptcy is finalized I’ll be free of my horrible ex husband, and that makes me very thankful. I’m also thankful for relocating a very good friend, Dave, and being able to make amends with him, and hopefully one day we will date, but right now were friends. I’m also thankful for my friends and family, my job, my horses, and my health.
